| Subject: YouTube Mon 28 Jun 2010 - 11:30 | |
| hi,
I have 2 YouTube accounts. The first is my main account. The second I made recently to upload occasional videos. When I signed up for the recent one, I was asked if I wanted to link my Google account and it wasn't made clear how it would work. I didn't realize it would not only share the login info but I wouldn't be able to change my YouTube password to something unique if I wanted.
I also would rather have my main account linked to Google. Is there a way to unlink my second account? I don't want to close and start over because I like the name I was able to get.

| I really, *really* need this, too. Now, my business YouTube account is linked to my personal Google account. And I am not the only person in my business. I can't give out my personal Google account credentials just to have people be able to post to our business YouTube account. YouTube, Google, please be responsive and help me to unlink them. This is a major issue for me. I really can't believe that somebody in the YouTube team thought that removing the option to unlink accounts could have been a bright idea. I. Just. Can't. I'm very disappointed. please help | |

| Subject: same question Mon 28 Jun 2010 - 11:34 | |
| I have the same question. I just made a new account (on the 1st of June 2009) and it wouldn't let me make an "unlinked account" (unless I missed something). I want to be able to log into that new YouTube account only without all the other google things in my other window changing (gmail, reader etc). I've made new accounts before - and over the past few years it was always possible to use the same gmail account. This was the first time that it wasn't possible. They seem to have made it so there is no way to make a YouTube account without also making a gmail account and having them linked up. Hmm. | |

| Aren't there meant to be officials who try to answer these questions? I'm starting to feel if they don't have a quick fix or if an error is "Google's Bad" they just ignore the issues...
Same problem over here... ended up with YouTube messing around with my Gmail - Not appreciating it, to be honest! Somebody spoke of an "Unlink" button but it's not there - any chance of bringing it back, if it ever did exist?

| What you need to do is: 1: Log into your YouTube account 2: Click "Account" in the top right corner 3: In the left navigation pane click "manage account" 4: Click "Unlink my google account" and follow the instructions
I did this myself when I had to crate a new YouTube account with a new username and link my google account to the new YouTube account.
Sorry 4 the delay in reply....

| I follow the indicated steps on the previous post but there is no link to click on or way to unlink my account. It says: "Currently there are no third party sites authorized to access your account."
Your help in unlinking these accounts would be appreciated.

| If there is no unlink button, you likely created the account with your google account, in which case the only way to unlink is to close the account, and even this doesn't always work. I can give you the info about this and a link for re-opening your account once it's closed if you want to try this approach. Keep in mind, though, if you close and reopen your account, you will lose all of your video uploads.

| All of you are stupid. No offense CyberNinja but the link provided does not work. I clicked on it and it brang me to the my account page with a message at the top that said... YOUR ACCOUNT IS PERMANENTLY LINKED. So give up now if you are wasting all of your time trying to figure out the answer to this. To be honest... there is none. Wow shocker. It was nice talking to you. And just remember... IT'S IMPOSSIBLE | |

| Subject: I figured it out Mon 28 Jun 2010 - 12:10 | |
| I just figured this out:
1. Go to Youtube 2. scroll down to the bottom and click Get Help 3. type in "How do I unlink my google and Youtube accounts?" 4. clik the option that says "Account Login and Administration: Link/Unlink an AdWords account" 5. Click Unlink an adwords account from your youtube account 6. click on the link that pops up when you click the thing above 7. then click unlink when you get to that link. (I did this today 6/28/2010 so its still available)
